President and re-election team make push for younger voters

Washington (CNN) – Call it the battle for the youth vote.

As President Barack Obama heads to three battleground states this week to push for an extension of a law that cuts interest rates on a popular federal student loan program for low and middle income undergraduates, and to energize young voters, his re-election campaign is also pushing for the extension with national and state events.

The president will visit the University of North Carolina, the University of Colorado and the University of Iowa on Tuesday and Wednesday. The three universities are in states Obama narrowly won in the 2008 election and are considered battleground states again in 2012, meaning they are expected to be heavily contested by both parties in the general election.

The young naive, gullible, inexperienced voters, who are influenced more by manufactured popularity, than competence, character, and integrity, are easy marks for a con man, like Barack Obama. Unfortunately, that's how America can get stuck with an inept, corrupt, leader.

Dec2012 – what makes you think this way? What do you think has changed since the last election when the dems lost all kinds of seats? If anything, things are worse now then during the last election.

Yeah go with the GOP that will do away with the DOE, planned parenthood, etc. which means no funding for higher education, Pell Grants, birth control for young ladies trying to further their education, money for new teachers, and the list goes on and on. WOW! I need to post the picture of President Obama in front of Superman because that's what everyone expected him to be. What about me? What about this? Fix 8 years of screw ups in 31/2. REALLY?

Who's stopping young ladies from buying birth control? You mean you just want somebody else paying for it, right? Cut back on the kool-aid.

Highly educated woman with insurance, and my employer does not make the decision about what I should and should not have. I thought you were all about freedoms. Offer insurance but make the decision on what to cover. Get rid of Cialis and viagra and we'll call it even. Barbarians.

If you're highly educated, then you must know that "the pill" does not protect against HIV and other STD's. Therefore, rather than advocating "getting rid of Viagra and Cialis, which are used to treat actual medical conditions, why not advocate for substituting condoms for "the pill." As effective as "the pill" without the adverse side effects, PLUS the addional protection against STD's. Not to mention the cost savings.

If "the pill" is being used to treat actual medical conditions, then by all means, yes it should be covered by insurance. If it is being used for "convenience" then lower the costs, increase the protection and substitute with Trojans.

You may be "highly educated" but apparently ignorant or gullible. Do away with the DOE and Planned abortion, er, sorry Parrothood which means ere will be no funding for higher education? Really? DOE supports K-12 education...not colleges and universities (higher ed) which are almost exclusively funded by the states and the private sector (alumnus grants, foundations, etc.)

Why is it that we throw more and more money at public schools, but they continue to struggle and fail? Why is it every parent's dream to be able to afford private or charter schools for their kids, but the Dem's refuse to allow voucher programs?

You are right about the "what about me?" Everyone wants Obama's programs to take from the haves and give to the have nots. "What about me, having 8 kids outside of wedlock on welfare?" Who's the barbarian? REALLY????

Obama can't win without votes from high school drop outs and dumbed down graduates.
And even though their peer unemployment rate is above 50%, most will blindly follow along on false promises.

In the beginning they tried this 1930's Germany type of propaganda but people won't buy it this time. He can't run on results so he'll just lie continuously until november. If Obamacare gets shot down he'll look even worse.

What is wrong with you trolls? President Obama is trying to help YOUR young people to afford a decent education by keeping the interest low on their student loans and all you can do is trash his efforts!
He is doing everything that a man can do for all the right reasons and you people only want to bring him down. And, who do you have to replace him with? Mitt 1% Romney? How can you be serious?
Didn't Bush's policies and shear ignorance destroy our economy?
Haven't the GOTP already demonstrated that they are more loyal to Grover Norquist than our country?
Every time there is a news article about President Obama, all of the trolls rear their ugly heads and start spewing their lies and Faux rhetoric.
All of you are so disgusting that I refuse to even attempt an intellectual debate. So, excuse me while I go puke.

To the liberals who cloud (nearly) every discussion forum with prejudicial stereotypes of 'racist' conservatives, what do we do with this elected county commissioner chairman who admits he personally distributed racist campaign flyers to businesses around the courthouse. Flyers filled with the N-word and a Klan logo. What should we do with him?

Mr. President, the US cannot afford to continue deficit spending of over $1 trillion a year and continuing to increase our crushing debt. What are your plans and goals to curb spending? And why haven't you passed a budget since taking office?

Mr President, unemployment has been over 8% since you took office, the longest continuing unemployment tragedy since the Great Depression. What are you going to do to fix it?

Mr President, Social Security and Medicare will both run out of funds inside 15 years. What are you doing about this?

Mr President when you signed Obamacare into law, you promised Americans it would save a trillion. The OMB now says your health care plan will cost us over $500 billion. How do you intend to fix this mistake?

These are the pressing issues of the day Mr President. Can we expect honest answers and solutions? How YOU are addressing these issues today? We do not need to hear how you think Mr Romney will fix these – you are in charge TODAY, and these issues cannot wait for your last election when you will have more flexiibility to do God only knows.

For those young voters too young to remember: Young people from San Francisco followed a charismatic messianic leader who ingratiated himself to many of San Francisco's liberals. He was rewarded by Mayor Moscone with an appointment to head up public housing. He fancied himself as a Savior, and nurtured a blind loyalty in his followers. They were required to hand over all material possessions so he could start a Socialist utopia community at Jonestown, Guyana. Crops weren't good, and working the fields sucked. A few got messages of despair and alarm out despite his tight reign on communications, and a few tried to escape the cult commune when Congressman Leo Ryan (D-CA) flew in to check things out. Jones' mercenaries killed Ryan and shot his aide, current Congresswoman Jackie Speier, who survived the horror. Next, Jones convinced nearly every one of his 800 followers to drink poisoned Kool-Ade following that attack. That tragic event is the origin of the phrase, "Don't Drink the Kool-Ade," meaning be careful what ideas you swallow.
Perhaps this story sounds familiar. Be wary of Savior figures, socialist ideals, and Kool-Ade, Don't accept any Kool-Ade, even when it's been re-labeled "Purple Drank" to disguise its purpose.
