The POTUS with the most-est preparing his comedy monologue Jimmy Kimmel might be the high power entertainment at this year's White House Correspondent's Dinner Saturday night but don't write off the president's comedy material just yet. We are told by a senior administration official a White House brainpower trust including the President’s head speechwriter Jon Favreau, David Axelrod, and speechwriter David Litt are hard at work. Presidents have typically had some funny zingers prepared for their remarks for this annual dinner with the press that covers the White House. And it appears the fun is already starting. An official told us on background that when he wasn’t busy power lunching at Spago and ducking the paparazzi, former White House speechwriter turned LA heartthrob Jon Lovett has been offering suggestions – the offensive kind. |

CNN seems to be the new comedy site. We get this story, a story about the "slo-burn" stories about BO on Leno and Michele O on another comedy show, but nothing about the EPA leader Obama appointed talking about his "oversight" of the oil companies. We also get nothing about Obama lieing about what a repub said about the college loan program.
Repubs will need to beat the dems and the media shills like CNN, but "Yes They Can".

@ Steveo Saying the tax rate is 35% is one thing. Allowing companies to write off everything under the sun, and giving them subsidies which factually means that most in the end, pay 12.1%. The fact remains most corporations when all is said and done pay 12.1%, and some even learn exactly how to work it so they pay no tax.
As I have said before....you can claim anything but where are your links to prove it?

We can argue the tax rates all day long but the current top tax rate is 35%! Based on the article I shared yesterday, even the president is suggesting it is too high! You mentioned write offs. That is a Congressional issue, jean2009. Neither party has the courage to tackle the tax code, neither one! Pelosi didn't, Rangle didn't, Boehner didn't, and Canter didn't!

I am mystified with your obsession with GE corporation. You would think they are the sole business capable of employing U.S. citizens. However....it does look like they do employee many Americans and have plans to employee many thousands more.

The Obama administration today is unveiling an overhaul of the corporate tax code, proposing to lower the top corporate income tax rate while eliminating a host of deductions and loopholes. The plan will be formally unveiled later today, but here are some of the important facts released already:
– The administration is proposing a top corporate income tax rate of 28 percent, lowered from its current 35 percent.

The White House Press Correspondents dinner has been a tradition since 1914 so a lot of presidents have attended the celebration and rubbed elbows with celebs. As with all non-profit organization they do good work while raising funds.
