President Obama to address U.S. citizens from Afghanistan![]() President Obama made a surprise visit to Afghanistan today on the one year anniversary of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. While in country Obama and President Karzai signed the Strategic Partnership Agreement outlining the U.S.-Afghanistan relationship over the next decade. The president will also address the nation live from Afghanistan at 7:30pm ET. Today's visit to Afghanistan is President Obama's third since taking office. His most recent visit was to the base at Bagram in December 2010. Bad weather kept the president from traveling the almost 30 miles to Kabul. His first visit was on March 28, 2010. It was 9 years ago today when then-President George W. Bush declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq. Under a banner that read "mission accomplished," President Bush addressed the country live from the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf. |

Obama has been a good president. Not much can be said of Bush's false start on announcing our accomplishment. Plain and simple, Obama knew when we accomplished our mission. Osama bin Laden took 3k of our citizens, and we took his life and then some as a return. I feel only now we can officially celebrate our mission complete, and it was the help of 2 presidents not just one.
Bush said major combat was over, and it was. The rest was the tedious mop up of hardcore holdouts and fighters coming in from Pakistan.
As for being done now... I think the major combat is also done in Afghanistan but, even with bin laden, dead there's a LONG way still to go there too.
Instead of governing and leading ... once again, Obama is exploiting the Presidency, our tax dollars, and even America's Foreign Policy, in a desperate attempt to get himself reelected.
Needs to be out of the country to speak to US citizens???? This guy is a Chicago pol to the end– - Vote 2012!
YEAH, BECAUSE IT IS SUCH A HORRIBLE THING WHEN OBAMA DOES IT. CRY SOME MORE.
Obama and the media are milking this Afghanistan story, for every drop of political benefit they can. The polls are showing Obama on shaky ground, and he's desperate. Elect a President who is competent, and can save our economy, not a public relations attention hog ... who probably gave away the store, so that a corrupt Karzai would bail him out.
WAHAHAHAAAA!!!! KEEP CRYING HOWIE.
Romney and the repulicans are being overwhelmed... Go Mr. President. Woop their behind...
OBAMA keeps trying to convince us that the way Mitt Romney spends HIS money, is more important than how Obama spends OUR money ... while Obama squanders 5 TRILLION dollars of OUR money ... and, still wants to spend more !!!
CRY SOME MORE HOWIE!
OBAMA 2012
AFGHANISTAN IS JUST ANOTHER CAMPAIGN STOP FOR OBAMA ... and, since neither Obama, or Karzai can be trusted, this so called last minute victory, after running America into the ground for the past 3 1/2 years, will probably fall apart, right after the November election.
WAAAAAH! SOMEBODY PUT THE KID TO BED. HAHAHAHAHA!!!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ? That rings a bell; any Repubs. remember that one ?
Yeah, I remember it well. The banner referred to the end of the USS Abraham Lincoln's tour of duty, But you already knew that.
Yes I remember it well.... May 1, 2003 (May Day) Bush's premature celebration and back patting for a job just begun. For right effect Bush should have done it a month earlier on April 1.....LOL!
From May 1, 2003 to December 18, 2011 when our final troops left Iraq. 8 years, 7 months, 17 days "Mission Accomplished"celebration was premature.

Even George Bush has admitted the Mission Accomplished sign was a mistake.
FREE CAMPAIGN COMMERCIAL-I guess he's not raking in enough campaign contributions-who will be watching?
53% of America and some from your nosy lot... you included...
Since 2008, under Obama ... the mediocre, and mediocrity has been elevated to a position of undeserved power.
In November, when all of you obama stooges are neutered, you will once again be returned to your little lives of mediocrity ... where you belong.
FREE CAMPAIGN COMMERCIAL-I guess he's not raking in enough campaign contributions-!

Good news!.
Great call by great President!
What a dedicated public servant and role model!
God bless you my President and long live!
I and sane Americans love you dearly! Keep up a good job for God is with you.
God bless America!
Bush did not make that speech from the Persian gulf, he made it from san Diego. It was MEANT to look like he was in the gulf.
Ammon, you are just showing you are a straight up hater. The president addresses the American people from within the US all the time. Also once from outside the country. Or are you saying the president shouldn't be allowed to address the American people from outside the country?
I think I'll just watch the highlights tomorrow on the news shows, chances are it'll be all political anyway.
@sponge bob highlights dont watch the news then cause wont be any,Just another free commercial. He needs them anyways not gitting any kickbacks from going outta buissness like solyndra!!!
OBAMA keeps trying to convince us that the way Mitt Romney spends HIS money, is more important than how Obama spends OUR money ... while Michelle squanders a half a million dollars in five days, on just ONE of her many vacations, and, Obama squanders 5 TRILLION dollars of OUR money ... and, he still wants to spend more of OUR money !!!
so many sour grapes repos on this post. Our gutsy president working to end this war and aknowledge our troops, Proud of you mr president .No many people would go to Afganistan on this day. The anniversary of Bin Laudin Mitts foreign policy go to france for lunch or stash money in the caymens. That man hasent got the sense to put the dog in the car how can he handle foreign policy. Move forward Obama 2012
Please. The reports I'm seeing is he stalled going after bin laden for at least a week; finally Panetta made the call. Obama is the president so he was certainly involved but now to take full credit for killing OBL without at least acknowledging the brave Navy seals who actually took him out is... hurtful, and poor leadership. Otherwise, I say invite him into a humvee, hand him a weapon, send them out on patrol, and let him show us how HE killed OBL. Until and unless he gives some credit where credit is due it's all just another sad election year campaign stunt.
BTW: I'm not a Romney fan but how dare Obama suggest Romney wouldn't have gone after bin laden when he himself delayed until somebody else actually made the call. If the mission hadn't worked I seriously doubt the commander-in-chief would be taking credit for the failure now.
What's Mitt's money got to do with anything? Do you think Obama, or any other Washington politician, is poor?
I'm still haven't heard the full dog story. Did the dog die? So, better to put the dog in your belly than in the car? 😉
Get up off the Obama altar and try reality for a change.
@joey Why would we since insanity is your version of reality?
Excellent put up, very informative. I wonder why the opposite experts of this sector do not realize this. You must proceed your writing. I hope to give a contribution & assist different users like its aided me. Great job.
you leftists are still bashing President Bush... even obama ran against Bush and not McCain...you drank that cool-aid. Fact is this visit was not necessary and part of his two week effort to raise his poll numbers and redirect attention from his horrendous failures in the middle east, domestically, and at the supreme court....even the jobs reports are dismal. What this shows, in effect, is that obama will do anything to raise these numbers... A despicable showing when he pounds his chest over the Usama event...actually, if it were not for President Bush's war on terror this could never have happened...and obama was agaist all surges and war funding....dont stop him from trying to take credit though..barf!
Once again your wasted Tax Dollar at work.
Hey...CNN, where are the stories on Obama using he ws a"BORN IN KENYA" on his book BIO's untils 2007? Where are the stories on Obama trying to bribe REV Wright to shut up during the election 2008? You're not a NEWS agency, you're just polical hacks!!!
Very scary, Donna. I've read a few articles codtnening that Mitt appears to be the current GOP front-runner and that few take Palin seriously. But we did have 8 years of George W. Bushisms so unfortunately, anything is possible.
