Biden says he is 'absolutely comfortable' with same-sex marriage

(CNN) – As a ballot initiative to ban same sex-marriage comes to a vote in North Carolina this week, Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday he was "absolutely comfortable" with the idea of same-gender marriage.

"I just think that the good news is that as more and more Americans come to understand what this is all about, it is a simple proposition: Who do you love? Who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person who love?" Biden said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

While he did not touch on the North Carolina initiative, his comments were consistent with his message on the controversial issue in general. He added, however, that it's the president, not he, who sets the administration's policy.

Another issue to deflect. I assume we will get a ton of posts from the left saying how good Biden is and how bad the repubs and Bush is – and that is fine. Just remember lefties, you are following the party line blindly by falling for these deflection issues. You need to hold BO's feet to the fire like the rest of us if you really want a positive change.
Obama has had his time in office and has proven he can't get the job done. At this point it doesn't matter why he can't get it done. Voting for him again will mean much of the same as we got the past 3 years. Are you really better off than you were 5 trillion dollars ago? I'm not and I will vote accordingly.

Sorry, 'my left view'. You've got a lot of words here, but it just doesn't add up. What Obama/Biden are promoting is sosicliam. Where do you think that 'tax cut' is going to come from? And why should people who pay no tax at all get a 'tax cut'? It'll come from business owners (large & small), the engines of our economy. And, no, those wealthy entrepreneurs won't get those taxes back, b/c it'll be going to those 95% – 40% of whom don't even pay taxes – that Obama keeps promising his welfare check – I'm sorry – tax cut. Remember? How do you think consumers ever have cash to spend? It's because they have jobs, provided by business owners, who will have to start laying those same people off when their businesses begin to crush under the tax burden that Obama wants them to shoulder. So then you'll have less successful businesses employing fewer workers, who have less $ to spend at the businesses that remain, who will start to fail b/c they have fewer patrons, and so on, and so on...Great plan for the economy. Yeah, Obama/Biden sure are thinking of us!Okay, but you have a lovely day too! 🙂

I'm for Gay rights but not gay Marraiage. I got a little question for all supporters and VP Joe Biden.
IF they are actually totally EQUAL, Should we promote Homosexuality. You Know like "FORD vs Chevy".
IF all you people are so sure they're EQUAL, WHY shouldn't promoters, like gun-advocates, tea-partys, DEMs, republicans, Baptist, Catholics be allowed to promote GAY life. Tell me if thats where we're headed next. Should kids be told its better to be gay. I beleive Gays have rights to do what they want but i suppose i do see limits, I do not support gay marriage. Please, someone/Joe Biden tell me why we should not promote Homosexuality.

These people need to be left to live their lives as they want to. Nobody said anything about better or not better. It is just the way it is. You don't really support gay rights if you don't support gay marriage – same as Obama.

Well MR VP Joe Biden, now that hetrosexuality and homosexualityare legally EQUAL, do we promote the Homosexual lifestyle. THEY ARE completely EQUAL, Correct? Will they get Gov grants and programs to promote equality and growth and competition, like ford vs Chevy, coke vs pepsi, REPUB vs DEM, Baptist vs Catholic... They're equal so shouldn't society strife to get them in equal numbers? how about gay camps for kids to promote and recruit equality for homosexuality, they' are Equal. That is what America does with minority but equal ideas.

Whether one believes in the Almighty or not; according to the Holy Scriptures one cannot practice, condone and/or facilitate homosexuality and Christianity at the same time. Plan and simply, you cannot serve two Gods; in so many words.
Not making judgment on homosexuals, just a statement towards the article and stating the fact a Christian cannot condone or support homosexuality yet stay true to their faith; according to scripture.
That makes Obama, Biden and anyone else that supports homosexuality who claim to be a Christian, NOT a Christian. And last I checked you could not be a Catholic without being a Christian. Or any other Christian denomination or non-denomination.
And asking for repentance does not allow one to go out the next day and commit the same sin again; over and over like a revolving door. Repentance means to STOP committing the sin; period. Otherwise ones sincerity in asking forgiveness was false.
So support what YOU want, but in reality you only get to choose one.

Sad to hear that. How can you call Same-Sex Marriage......a marriage? Marriage is between one man and one woman!! Politicians will sell their souls for the sake of a vote. Stand strong and vote against this, the "GAY" vote is not what's going to win the election for you. As I've said though, I still believe President Obama is the best person for the job.

Marriage is between one man and one woman!! Why? Because you, and people like you, say so?
Why would you stop two people who love each other to get married? Is the only reason because it is against what you think should happen?

        John,

I don't know if you are a Christian or not but the Bible is full of references to marriage as being between a man and a woman! Catholics know that! I know society have "Evolved" but I will tell you this....God has not! I also know that not everybody is a Christian and believes that. I also know that the Bible is not like modeling clay that can be molded to fit societal evolution! Lastly, i know what i just said is not popular! Jesus Himself, was not concerned about being popular, neither am I!

I know this, people who love each other should be able to love each other – all the way, including marriage. I understand what the bible says. But if we took everything in the bible as literal truth where would we be – you know, leave your home, abandon your job, give up your families to follow??
Can anything be worse than having your loved one on their death bed and someone tells you "you can't go in that room, only family is allowed"? How about gay couples living together and a situation arises where one abuses their significant other? Guees what, they are not covered by spousal protection laws. I am sure we can come up with a 100 reasons why letting them marry is a good thing.
BTW, this is one of the main reasons (along w/choice) I am not a repub...

        ---------
If you understood what the Bible says, you would understand how God feels about this issue. Look, not to get into an argument but we all have sinned and God loves each and every one of us! He rejects the sin! That doen't mean we hate folks or are to tear into them. As far as the last part of your post, your understanding is incorrect! You better take care of the wife and children! That is not telling us to abandon family, it is telling us Christ is the priority. You can have that while having a job and a house and a family!

You said: I am sure we can come up with a 100 reasons why letting them marry is a good thing.

I can think of but one that says it's not a good thing. That was not God's design for us!

This is not hate and I am not saying We need to be a theocracy either. I am saying truth never changes to suit us, we change to suit the truth! This is one of the most emotional issues of our time, no doubt!

Steveo, we can agree to having different points of view on this one. If it causes no harm to anyone and it helps people through a difficult situation I think it should be allowed. This is what I feel, similar to Joe (as crazy as that seems to me). Not for religious reasons. I understand Christian, and many other traditional faiths are against gay marriage. The primary argument is historical and related to "social science" IMO, not religion. To me it is about acceptance of others and allowing others to be who they are. Again, just my opinion...

men and women marry and have children and jointly educate and guide them to be good citizens of the world.... Their genes and their hopes and dreams... these couples have a vested interest in the betterment of man kind. Gays marry...for what good reason...and what does that really do for our culture? What moral agency does the union of two people of the same sex have? But what the heck...gives morally corrupt politicians the opportunity to divide us for power....suckers that some of us are.

if I don't bevliee in AGW I 'don't bevliee in science', he's also called Republicans 'evil', Obama has been dismissive and insulting, same for Pelosi and Reid. Take a look at the crap thrown at Bush for years and anyone who dares to say they're conservative or libertarian by the left; have you taken them to task for this?I've said before, this is my electronic soapbox to bitch and yell from; and when some slimy, honorless little bugger like Gibbs says crap like this I AM going to take him to task for it. Same for that clown Biden lying about his past and Obama lying to try to take credit for the victory in Iraq. I don't plan to change; they act like vile, two-faced, disgusting bastards, I'm going to call them on it.If my use of the language is not sufficiently nuanced for you, can I suggest you try Tam or Lawdog? They have a better talent for calling lying bastards what they were in much nicer ways.Fact is, I very much think I'm worth of respect as a free citizen of the United States; being treated like a brainless cretin by lying politicians, being insulted by them, just kind of pisses me off. Deal with it.

Steveo, I agree with you. However, their trying to blame Joe Bidens acceptance of the right to gay marriage on the fact that it's an election year I think is wrong!! Barack H Obama and Joe Biden are 'Federal Officials'! They are in the 'Highest Positions' of government!! They are the President and the Vice-President of all Americans. Why in the world does everybody continue to try to pull them into this STATE controversial issue?? When ANYBODY applies for a marriage certificate, they have to apply through their STATE; not the Feds!! These men have to maintain a level of 'civility' as officers of the federal government!! They can't let their 'personal views' and convictions dictate their governing. That's what they told the Supreme Court Judges that Obama selected for the courts!! They were questioned indepth about their personal convictions on many issues; asked if they thought that those would interfere with their ultimate decisions on cases!! They had to literally prove, or at least make the 'vetters' satisfied that they wouldn't!! So why is it not the same for the President and the Vice-president of the United States?? Why is it that EVERYBODY, the media and everybody on BOTH sides need to make them publicly announce their opinions anyway?? They shouldn't even have to respond to such!! This whole fiasco is just another tactic of denigration staged by the RepubliKKKlans, to give another perception of negativity of both men!! MARRIAGE is a state issue; Not a Federal Issue!! Obama handled DADT for the military, which is Federal!! He knows that this 'marriage issue' is more of a 'civil' issue that needs to be handled by the States! His moral view has nothing, or shouldn't have anything to do with it!! He even said as much, a year ago when he was working on DADT!! So what else do you all want?? Yes Joe Biden is Catholic, but he also knows he can't even think about governing groups in the United States, using his Cathoilic convictions as leverage!! Some folk don't even believe in GOD!! This is a CIVIL RIGHT, if not HUMAN RIGHT issue!! Who are they to hold the measurement or the thermometer on MORALITY in their positions?? Hey,...remember 'SEPARATION of CHURCH and STATE??

      Liz,

You make some good points buty let out something highky important! You said this is a "state Issue". I fully agree with that but everytime California voted to ban gay marriage, why did the Feds, through the courts get involved to overturn the voice of the people?

Just yesterday, NC voted to ban gay marriage. Let's see how long the before the Feds get involved in this "state Issue". Again, I agree with you but SOME federal officials see it differently. Lastly, the Veep's view conflicts with Biblical Christianity and that is exactly what he calls himself!

      Liz,

I fully understand the intent of the separation of church and State! You may want to go and relook at it. It does not mean what you seem to think it does! Are you advocating the selling of one's soul for politicial power? As a Christian you full well God does not reshape Himself to fit societial evolution. Jesus is the SAME, yesterday, today, and forever!

The day men will give an account is coming and it will have nothing to do with shape shifting politics!

His moral view has nothing, or shouldn't have anything to do with it!!
      -----------
I can't disagree with you more or stronger! One's moral view point is what generates thoughts and actions! Sounds like you are providing excuses, Liz!

I know my view is not popular and will even be viewed a hate but so be it!

You and I can agree to it or denounce it. We aren't governing and trying to set rules or 'legislate' over anyone, but ourselves, and loved ones, if anybody!! We can go out like Jesus did if we want to! And believe me, I do when I can; and especially if there is an ear who wants to listen!! However, they can't!!

The President should lead with character by refusing to be extorted by every group who is using this election cycle to squeeze for what they want. Voters now have a very clear choice. They can sit back and let Romney and friends come into power. First, everyone should be talking about defeating the Republicans. Second, pick the topics that will be discussed. For example, Republicans only talk about what they want to talk about: No matter what questions they are asked. [See: Michelle Bachman] As Sitting President, Obama does not need to respond to everything thrown his way. Third, that is a distraction tactic that has slowed progress up to this point. [Joe Biden’s personal views, the Beer Summit and other “Joe the Plumber situations,” How many troops will he draw down, What Christine O’Donnell said, which dog he will choose…]. And Forth, avoid being confined to constricting labels. [i.e., He must always reach across the isle; Using only new and different strategies and tactics rather than previous ones. Any and all methods should be an option in serving America At Large. President is trying to stand on principles while his opponents continue to reveal themselves as scoundrels.
