Obama says GOP tax stance contrary to mantra Virginia Beach, Virginia (CNN) – Once again setting up this election as a battle between "different visions" for the future of America, President Barack Obama took his campaign to Virginia on Friday and questioned Republicans' commitment to one of their central campaign themes. Repeating his pledge to let lower tax rates for upper-income workers expire at the end of the year, the president said that his opponents' disagreement means they're not determined to reduce the nation's deficit. |

Some Pentagon officials are also noting that an increase in the enlistment of radical Muslims into the US military where they get all the training they need on weapons and defense systems. We have no idea how many of them there are in the armed forces or in what positions they may hold..
Obama has been wielding executive powers this past year as if he were already a dictator. When Congress is not doing his bidding, he simply bypasses them and uses an executive order to accomplish it anyway. This has set the stage for his disbandment of Congress. He would not be the first world leader to take control of a nation and disband the legislative branch of government.
He has been effectively using the media to anesthetize the public to the dangers he poses. Like a patient being prepped for surgery, people are numb to the changes and won't have a clue what took place until they wake up in recovery and realize that free America has been removed and replaced with a regime that may parallel those of Stalin, Lenin, Mussolini, Hitler, Chavez and Castro.
For the sake of our children and grandchildren, I earnestly pray that we are spared from what seems a certain future and that Obama is overwhelmingly defeated in 2012. Otherwise, heaven help us.

He also allowed Bain to submit documents to the SEC for 3 long years which stated he was the head of Bain for 2000, 2001, and 2002....now that he wants to disassociate himself from Bain's outsourcing and pension-raiding practices he wants to say he left in 1999....typical Rethugliklan he wants to rewrite history to suit his current needs.

I do not give much of a fig about the two campaigns. I do care about the two visions because they are real and the differences between them are astounding. The Norquist pledge is a pledge to starve the beast. By definition, starving the beast is a strategy intended to increase America's national budget deficits drasticaly in the short run. In the long run, it is intended to force drastic cuts in domestic spending on entitlements and on regulation, thus closing the short term imbalance in sources and uses of funds. Drastic cuts is the end game. The Republican breastbeating about current year deficits and the public debt is, in a word, phoney.
No tax increases for the wealthy from the Republican party. No surprise there so why bother to mention it. They will never change their minds about their trickle down methods. Just wise up and vote them all out – forever. Obama in 2012:)

The president's "message" here is a non-sequitor argument (well almost). There are multiple ways to reduce the deficit and raising taxes on only 2% of the population will not make an iota of difference in the deficit. It's a feel good measure aimed to keep stirring the class warefare pot.
This story (and some of the comments) show one fundamental difference between conservatives and libs...libs believe there is only so much pie to go around so everyone should have a small piece of it, and if you have too much, you need to give up more than your neighbor. Conservatives believe we can make the pie bigger resulting in more for everyone...
To put it in numbers libs believe 50% tax on $1MM is the same as 25% on $2MM. From strictly an income standpoint that is correct, but from an economics standpoint, the additional economic activity generated increases tax receipts further, enhancing the $2MM. This is true even if the wealthy keep their money invested in companies or banks. If in companies, tthose companies continue to generate productivity. If in banks, it keeps their capital reserves up so they can continue to lend. Raise taxes on this money and you will see this capital flow out of the country faster than you can blink your eye.
The left wants to go back to 1950's-60's tax rates because they believe the country prospered because of these rates. The simple fact is that we are in a completely different world today, where technology and information are the driving forces and the cost for "shipping" this is nearly 0. Why are you so interested in the slogan "forward" the cry to go back? Makes NO SENSE.

The tax rates on the richest 1% of this country are the lowest they've been in 80 yrs. Mitt wants to give them an additional tax break that will come at the tax-increase and/or, services and benefit cuts to the majority AND probably both. All while avoiding the disclosure of tax returns that prove he actually was a job creator-type business man and not just some scumb-bag opportunitist who has avoided paying taxes while our soldiers die in war or come back disabled to NO JOBS.
