Romney omits 'war' from acceptance speech (CNN) – In a new campaign video and in emails sent to reporters throughout the day, the Obama campaign spent much of Friday highlighting what they call an important omission from Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech on Thursday night. “In an almost 45-minute speech, Mitt Romney didn't find a moment to mention Afghanistan,” Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in a statement sent to reporters just after midnight. “With no new plans and evasion about his real plans, Mitt Romney leaves this convention no stronger than he came.” |

Obama should tell the truth about his failed policies, which have resulted in:
1. Releasing and returning enemy combatants to the battlefield, for another shot at killing our soldiers.
2. Leaking military secrets to his Hollywood pals to promote the Obama reelection campaign,
which puts our soldier in danger.
3. Cutting back our military budget, thus giving an advantage to our enemies.
4. Refusing to call terrorists, like the Fort Hood murderer, terrorists, thus providing them with aid and cover.
5. Telegraphing troop pull out dates to our enemies, thus eliminating our leverage.
6. Assisting our enemies with our tax money, aid and assistance, while throwing our allies under the bus.
7. Opposing early voting for our soldiers, who are risking their lives, so the rest of us can vote.
These are just some of the reasons our military dislikes this traitor.
8. Providing terrorists and enemy combatants with due process, in American courts.

No, Romney did not have to mention every issue, but the ones he chose to overlook are some of the most critical for the President. As Commander-in-Chief, he has to convey that he understands the cost of war and will not send our troops in harms way without the strongest consideration of alternatives. Not mentioning the war was HUGE, not minor, and NOT Saluting our TROOPS was MAJOR not minor. The Republican Nat'l Convention received MEDIOCRE RATINGS – and the polling data so far suggests that it may produce A MODEST BOUNCE in the polls for Romney.
Information collected so far points toward its being A LITTLE UNDERWHELMING.
The Five Thirty Eight "now cast", which does not adjust for the bounces associated with the party conventions, estimates that Mr. Obama would have a 72.3% CHANCE OF WINNING if the election were held today (Sept.1).
Mr. Romney's standing in the Rasmussen poll was two points better than its 60 day average, but it was one point worse than average in the Gallup poll.
The forecast interprets the data as being slightly negative for Mr. Romney. On Saturday (Sept.1) Mr. Obama's CHANCES OF WINNING THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE ROSE TO 73.1% in the forecast. It's highest figure since Aug. 16th when it was 73.6%.
As it stands in the Five Thirty Eight Forecast, MR. ROMNEY'S CHANCE OF WINNING IS ONLY 26.9%.

Mitt Romney didnt meantion the war in Afghanistan because the American public has long since forgotten about it. In both the Iraq and Afghan wars, only a tiny, tiny percentage (less than half of one percent) have shouldered the burden of these wars. Since only so few even know anyone personally who served in either war, why would anyone remember...or care?
