President Obama is back on the campaign trail Thursday, planning to make two stops in the battleground state of Florida. In the early afternoon, the president will participate in a Univision town hall - the same forum Mitt Romney attended Wednesday. Then in the evening, Obama will head just north to Tampa for a high-dollar closed-door fundraiser. That confab - which costs donors upwards of $40,000 a person to attend - is the second major fundraiser for the president this week to be held behind closed doors.

I think it was partially funded by penalties in medicare payments. There are also 6 programs that may have duplicate services. I must confess, I don;t know what those are.

December, you are most likely correct that it will not be resolved until after the election. It will become more fuel for the political fire. Democrats will state Republicans do not care about the veterans. Republicans will claim Democrats continue spending. In the end, the veterans lose. Washington is truly broken. It really would not be difficult for both sides to come to an agreement. The Republicans would need to be open to passing the bill. Democrats need to find the funding. If there are duplicate services, then this should also be considered. One billion is not a substantial amount. It shouldn't be difficult to pass this bill.
Funding the military and taking care of veterans is one thing the government is mandated to do. Social Security, Medicare, Student Loans, Welfare, Training Programs are not even part of the governments tasks. Is it any wonder then that we're broke?
