Great Job Obama. Unlike the Gaffeoholic Romney, you have served ALL Americans.

Juan Percent is out in Nevada trying to campaign. He has done very little of it and now thinks he deserves the Presidency. I am starting to miss George Bush.

The irony is that millions of immigrants from south of our border ... and throughout the world, have fled to the United States for freedoms and opportunities ... and, Obama, here in America, is consistently disposing of our objective free press ... our entrepreneurship, free enterprise, and capitalism ... our government with checks and balances ... and our government with more than one political party. Therefore, thanks to Obama, all the things that immigrants are coming her for, are becoming like the counties they fled from.

Lionel, I will give credit to Jean and December. They at least have knowledge of the issues. I have, in fact, agreed with December on several occasions. Can you at least tell us why you think the President has done a "great job?"

      September 21, 2012 at 12:08 pm |
      • Lionel

        How about a few:

        1. Prevented the country from going into another great depression
        2. 4.6 million jobs in the last 30 months
        3. Affordable Care Act
        4. End of the War in Iraq
        5. Lilly Ledbetter Act – equal pay for work of equal value for WOMEM
        6. 33 tax cuts for small business
        7. Repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell – a discrimatory law
        8. Clean Air Technologies
        9. Inclease in Pell Grants for Students
        10. Decrease in interest in Student Loans

Oh yeah! and he is also the President for ALL Americans. He does not write off half of the cournty.

        September 22, 2012 at 9:14 pm |
      • Caramon

Well Lionel, I will give you credit on your response. At least you are in part familiar with the issues. However.
Item 1. Whether the President prevented another depression is up for debate. many economists believe the economy hit bottom before the president took office. In addition, some economists believe that unless our deficit turns around, we will face another recession worse than the first.
Item 2. The president did successfully produce 4.6 million jobs in the past 30 months. But, he has been in office longer than 30 months. He shows a total job loss since being in office. Yes, I know that many will say it was do to Bush. Item 1 may not necessarily agree.
Item 3. You may want to set aside a week and read the bill. It will increase taxes. I suspect that once the benefits of the bill begin to wear off, the rest of the bill will not be as welcome.
Item 4. The president is only following the time schedule that was initially set up by George Bush.
Item 5. The only thing the president did was sign the bill. It was written and passed by Congress.
Item 6. The tax cut did not benefit too many small businesses. Too many qualifiers.
Item 7. This of course was the bill originally signed by Bill Clinton.
Item 8. His investment was provided to a number of businesses that filed bankruptcy. You will also find a number of the company executives contributed to the Obama campaign.
Item 9. I understand this is also not necessarily true. The investment in Pell grants was decreased particularly the size of the grant. I will let you look that one up.
Item 10. This was Congress. The president does not control the money.

I know many supporters of the president will find articles and facts to dispute what I have written. It is no different than my finding articles and facts that agree. However, will still have a growing deficit problem that is not going away any time soon. It will impact the economy. Unfortunately, this issue is getting lost in the media and the politics.

Does the president care about every American. Remember, he is a politician.

Paradoxical Quote of The Day From Ben Stein:

"Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen."

Now add this, "Many of those who refuse, or are unable, to prove they are citizens will receive free insurance paid for by those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens."

Think about it when you vote in November !

@ Howard As per usual you don't know what you are talking about. This from PolitiFact which breaks down what is covered under the Massachusetts Health Carer Plan, and the Affordable Health Care Act.

        " Here’s what we found:

Abortion: Romneycare enables people to purchase plans that include abortion coverage. Obamacare does as well, but it also lets states opt out and lets individuals buy plans that don’t cover the procedure.

Illegal immigrants: Romneycare’s Health Safety Net reimburses health providers who care for the poor, regardless of whether they’re in the country legally. Obamacare provides grants to community health centers, which also treat anyone who can’t afford to pay for health care. Neither law provides any form of insurance coverage to undocumented people.

Public option: Neither plan has a public option in which the government acts as the insurer."

It only difference is the people of Massachusetts won't have their health care messed with if the stupid GOP wins.

Hurrah for President Obama having the remarkable good sense to work to pass health care reform.
        Obama-Biden 2012!

LATINOS FOR OBAMA ??? ... Obama doesn't care about the Latinos ... you are just being USED and pandered to for your votes. If Obama cared about Latinos, he would have reformed immigration ... like he promised 4 years ago. Besides Lionel, you may be Latino, but you sure don't speak for ALL Latinos. I have Latino friends and family, and you don't represent them !!! The reason Latinos, and other immigrants have flocked to the United States. is for the very opportunities and freedoms which Obama is eliminating. If the immigrants coming to the United States know how to create freedoms and opportunities, why haven't they elected leaders and created such policies in the countries they are running away from ??? Obama is turning the United States into the same kind of third world country that immigrants are running away from.

      @ Lionel ...
True leaders in history have shown us time after time that strength, not Obama weakness, is what creates respect from bullies, like the Islamic terrorists. You fools keep turning truth on its head. Romney was right about the Lybian terrorists, but you and Obama continue to push the lie. Also, anybody in their right mind would choose an extremely successful person to fix our economy, rather than a two bit community organizer ... who was fabricated ... packaged ... and sold to the American public ... only to squander 6 TRILLION of OUR dollars, and keep unemployment well over 8% for 44 months. The only thing that kept this radical traitor from COMPLETELY destroying America, was his concern over reelection ... and you fools want to give him another 4 years, without oversight, or accountability ??? It's fools like you, who not only enable evil to prevail ... you actually assist it. Obama is destroying America ... you Obama stooges love Obama more than you love America ... America is more important than Obama ... Obama is expendable and replaceable ... America is not.

BTW, it would have been a great thing if Obama could have turned out to be a good president. Now we are just hopeing that he is not worse than Jimmy Carter, but he appears to be worse.

If it was in fact a terrorist attack on our Ambassador in Libya it is DISGUSTING how the Republicans want to use this attack for political gains. Notice when roles were reversed during 911 and the Democrats united behind a Republican president. I am a registered Republican and this is another case where the lunatic fringe of the party has bought SHAME on the party.

This just highlights that we need to continue the war on terrorism. Obama has done a fine job so far and needs to be kept in office. Re-elect Barack Obama.

There is a reason they don't like us, but Obama has not been particularly hostile to these countries or to Islam in general. So what is your alternative? are we getting into wars with all these countries? While much has been said of America’s declining influence in the world, developments in the Middle East and North Africa indicate America has actually remained an influential player. The problem is that the White House’s influence is fast proving counterproductive. And the fruits of President Obama’s foreign policy innovations may soon enough be viewed as fuel for the global jihad.

Obviously you copied a list of talking points from somewhere but for many there are errors.

-The same $716 Billion you accuse Obama of stealing is the same $716 Billion that Ryan has used in his budget. Nothing is taken from patient services. This is money that is saved by more efficiently handling the insurance companies etc.

-Illegal immigration is way down under Obama

-Oil production on US soil is at the highest that it has ever been

-Keystone Pipeline was originally opposed by a Republican Senator in Nebraska over environmental concerns. The route has been changed and parts of Keystone have already been approved by Obama.

-Size of Federal Govt has actually contracted under Obama.

for some of them I can't understand your point

How to pay down the National debt.
        1. Individual and small business tax avoidance costs us $450 billion.
        2. Corporate tax avoidance is between $250 billion and $500 billion.
        3. Tax haven losses are at least $337 billion.*
        4. That's enough to pay off a trillion dollar deficit. Reasonable tax changes could pay it off a second time:
        (a) A non-regressive payroll tax could produce $150 billion in revenue.
        (b) A minimal estate tax brings in another $100 billion.
        (c) A financial transaction tax (FTT): up to $500 billion.
Read: Taxes Avoided by the Rich Could Pay off The Deficit
        By Paul Buchheit

I would definitely suggest listening to: "Episode 273: When The U.S. Paid Off The Entire National Debt" .

Plus...for starters understand the basics Grover Norquist is a fool.

How to pay down the National debt.
Interesting how you said NOTHING about cutting spending! Why is that?

        September 23, 2012 at 7:42 pm |
      • Caramon

After reading where these numbers were cut and pasted, I have to say the numbers do not exactly add up. According to the article, IRS estimates that tax avoidance is around 17 percent. Based on government revenue this would be equal to around 400 billion. As the author stated, there could be some crossing over. Maybe more than some.

The author also stated that estate tax would tax something that has not been taxed. When people buy property and goods, they pay tax. When these things become part of an estate, they have already been taxed once. The author should have stated that they are not taxed twice.

The third issue is whether the increases in revenue would be used to decrease the deficit. Government would certainly see this increase revenue as an opportunity to spend more.

        The article assumes a lot.

Since the bulk of his charitable giving went to the Mormon Church I would suggest reading online: "So how much help is the Mormon church now giving members and non-members?" Which after looking at the overall collections in relation to the total amount distributed in aid over the period of 25 years, The total that goes toward aid per church member amounted to......get ready for this....$6.73 each.

All those donations go to building more churches, funding commercials and missionaries to glean more converts.

Unlike Mitt Romney and the rest of the Republicans in congress, the administration has convened an inquiry to say what has happened. No definitive evidence that this was the work of Al Qaeda yet, but if they have involvement it is obvious that the administration will have to keep up the work eradicating them. If there had been warnings it could be as simple as the Ambassador failed to heed them. Bengazi was not nearly as fortified as the Embassy in Tripoli and he had to realize this was the anniversary of 9-11.

I am disgusted in the way the Republicans have tried to exploit this tragedy for political gain. Democrats did no such thing after the events of 9-11.

Romney kept his promise of never paying below 13% taxes and he also gave 30% of his income to charities and paid extra money in taxes voluntarily, something that Democrats won't do even though they are the ones preaching about raising taxes and the rich paying their fair share. Democrats are hypocrites. ROMNEY JUST GAVE YOU WHAT YOU WANTED and proved he has paid his fair share, legal amount and MORE!!!!! You libs are still crying. Time to look at the bigger picture and vote Romney in. Obama is bad for this country including Democrats.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Americans' distrust in the media hit a new high this year, with 60% saying they have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly. Distrust is up from the past few years, when Americans were already more negative about the media than they had been in years prior to 2004. – You should read this CNN editors and "journalists", it's soooo obvious you keep propping up Obama.

That is quite true, this has to be one of the worst congresses on record. Their approval rating was 14 % and all time low. They fought Obama on every jobs bill he brought forward, but then had the audacity to ask where the jobs are.

My humble opinion is that when a person does not get done what he promised, excuses come out. I feel if you are a true leader you find a way to acheive things you gave your word on.

        September 23, 2012 at 12:07 pm |
    • Jay in NC

Actually Jean Gov. Romney did not say ..."deadbeat-leeches.... that he can't worry about"

Lets break this down what he did say:
      1) "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what."
      - That sounds true, do you disagree that 47 percent of the voters are loyal to Obama?

      2) " All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it - that that's an entitlement."
      - Again, he says that there are 47 percent who are with Obama, Again I can not find anything untrue about this statement. With out changing his words could you please tell the class what is false?

      3) And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ...
      - Again a true statement.

      4) [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
      - Once again, as a candidate for president he will never convince you or any of the Obama lovers to vote for him. And he will never convince you to take responsibility.

Jean, why embarrass your self by misquoting Gov. Romney? Do you think that Obama voters are that stupid?

      September 22, 2012 at 8:45 pm |
    • Howard

@ Jean ... like Odumbo, and the other obama stooges ... since your 'Dear Leader' has NO record to run on, except failure ... you consistently resort to jumping on statements from the opposition, and trumping them up into deceptive meanings, which were obviously unintended. Everyone who is capable of thinking for themselves, knows what Mr. Romney meant. He was pointing to the fact that 47% of Americans don't pay ANY income tax, while expecting, and even demanding all the benefits from the federal government. Plus, this is happening at a time when we are about to go bankrupt. And, many, like you, are DEMANDING MORE ... while continually biting the hands that feed you. If you want to become part of the solution, instead of part of the problem ... why don't you start a business from scratch, and employ thousands of people ... give millions to charity ... like Mitt Romney did ... instead of living large, like Barack Obama, on the public dole ... off the sweat and hard work of others !!!

what Romney did with his hidden video wasn't a gaffe it was how he felt. and it alienates a good portion of this country. Not a distraction at all and its not just on CNN that they are talking about it. On fox this is a story every day this week. Face it Romney took a huge hit from his own stupidity.

Those comments just reinforce what the majority of Americans thought about Romney - He is an elitist and doesn't care a whit about the average person. His time as Governor of Mass also confirms this.

    September 22, 2012 at 3:41 pm |
    • rosco

My humble view, I see Mr. Romney as a patriot trying to serve his country best he can be restoring business in America.

Writing off 47 % and call them Victims is somehow being patriotic?

What a bizarre notion rosco. I would like to see you defend that humble point of view. I have parents on SS and Medicare and somehow they are a drain on society? I do wish you would make an attempt to explain that.

FlotsamJetsam ... instead of pointing out YOUR misguided criticisms of Mitt Romney ... you should first acknowledge the overwhelming divisive, corrupt, self-serving, dishonest, character flaws and failed policies of your 'Dear Leader', Barack Obama. Obama is destroying America. You Obama stooges love Obama more than you love America. Obama is expendable and replaceable ... America is not ... P.S. ... FlotsamJetsam is defined as 'Wreckage" ... which is exactly what your Fuhrer, Barack Obama, is turning America into.

      • FlotsamJetsam

Sorry Howard but I have been watching this election process for quite some time since I am a Republican. The primary season gives you an opportunity to watch the candidates and figure out what they stand for. I was initially very interested in Romney since he championed universal healthcare (in Mass) in a state where he was clearly the minority. What I learned is Mitt Romney has NO backbone. He could never stand up for his singular accomplishment of his life against his party or the likes of Rush LImbaugh.

He systematically decimated all this Republican challengers with is vast amounts of money and his answers on issues veers far to the right of where I had thought he had stood. In other words he became whatever his audience wanted him to be. In Mass he claimed to be pro-choice when he ran against Kennedy, and more favorable toward gays. All this has changed for him. As Rudy Giuliani has said about him, Mitt Romney has no core.

So Howard, I do not consider myself a Obama stooge or whatever clever name you decide to tag people you don't agree with. It is highly inconsistent of you to consider Obama divisive when it was Romney who bared his soul and told the country he doesn't care about the 47 %. It is clearly the Romney campaign that has been divisive with their incorrect attack ads on welfare.

If anything I have more contempt for congress. There is a reason their favorable rating is sitting at 14 %. They did everything they could to block any jobs legislation that Obama had proposed. And the other day was the last straw with 4 Republican Senators blocking jobs legislation for our returning Veterans. That was absolutely DISGUSTING that they would resort to such a blatantly political act. It is also DISGUSTING how the Republicans want to use this attack on our Libyan ambassador for political gains. Notice when roles were reversed during 911 and the Democrats united behind a Republican president.

So vote for Romney if you must, but don't come here and lie about how divisive Obama has been. I will be voting for Obama.

The people of Virginia remember. Pennsylvania obama was going to do so much for Pa. and he did he started a war on coal he is shuting coal fired power plants and coal mines , Virginia knows obama has a war on defeince and the Navy and shipyards will be shut down just like Pa. obama will thank Va. by shuting down the ship yards . obama will shut down Va. plants just like he shut down the Guld drilling .Less coal means high electric bills , no oil means high gas prices . No ship means no more jobs and Va can join that 47 % welfare vote . Mybe this is why Gov. Romney is ahead in Va. by 5 points.

    September 22, 2012 at 5:52 pm |
    • FlotsamJetsam

Larry, Don't have a clue what you're ranting about since my power company gets more than 50 % of its electricity from coal. But they have to do it within clean air guidelines (last modified 1990s). There have been Republican lawmakers in the House that want to dump these clean air laws (they got blocked by the Senate), but obviously these guys don't remember how bad the air was back in the 1950s and 60s.

Coal has another problem and that is natural gas. Natural gas is both plentiful and becoming cheaper than coal. If the demand for coal is down then coal mines will close. If dirty coal power plants can't operate within the law or not operate efficiently enough then they will get shut down. There is no "war on coal".
