Obama: Hurricane Sandy will affect millions

(CNN) – Hurricane Sandy is a powerful storm that will affect millions of people, U.S. President Barack Obama said Monday.

"We are certain that this is going to be a slow-moving process through a wide swath of the country, and millions of people are going to affected," Obama said, speaking to reporters from the White House after a Situation Room briefing on the storm.

Obama called on Americans to heed local storm evacuation orders. Anyone who doesn't follow evacuation orders, he said, is "putting first responders in danger."
