Libs can't handle the fact that Obama is in charge of the country and owns the mess he has caused by not leading the country over the past 4 years. It seems the can is too heavy to kick down the road at this point.
The ultimate politician has tried doing it the political way, i.e. hold off making any kind of real decisions and hope the problem goes away. Unfortunately for Obama, this strategy has brough us to where we are now.
I agree, these stupid libs made a terrible decision putting this guy back into office. But, it is not their fault, they are just blind followers who can only spew the party lines "Bush's fault", "Thing were much worse than we thought", It is the repubs fault", "it is the rich people who are at fault" – but then we hear – "Obama is God", "things are getting better", "The best president this country has ever seen".
Even stupid libs have to realize they made the wrong choice when middle class taxes go up by 2K in a couple of days. I do not like Romney, but he was much better for the job that needed to be done.

Bush still owns the mess. I ask you...Who in their right mind thinks they can run two unfunded wars (one for non-existent WMD) off the books, still cut taxes to the lowest level in history, and drain the treasury with vote buying tax rebates? Anyone who thinks that can be done without tanking the economy is more than just Looney Tunes, they are over the border insane.

      John,

Your pathetic recall of recent history is mind numbing.
Most of us Recall that Before Barack Obama was sworn in, the country was in losing 3 quarters of a million jobs per month. No matter how hard idiots try to blame President Obama for this, its simply not realistic nor plausible to do so...if you are sane anyway

Most of us Recall that Before Barack Obama was sworn in, the auto industry was nearly desimated. No matter how hard idiots try to blame President Obama for this, its simply not realistic nor plausible to do so...if you are sane anyway.

Most of us Recall that Before Barack Obama was sworn in, this nation was in the midst of two wars....One in Afghanistan, where we let the perpetrator of 9/11 slip out and get away, and another war in Iraq...looking for WMD's that never existed. We paid for these wars on a Chinese Credit cards, combined with tax cuts. Never in our history has there ever been the practice of our country to fight wars without any sacrafice to this country's citizens...and in case you hadn't heard me say this... idiots try to blame President Obama for this, but its simply not realistic nor plausible to do so...if you are sane anyway

I could go on... But I think you get the point. Did you just wake on on Jan 21'st 2009 while Pres. Obama was getting sworn in and say...."look at the mess that Obama made"? I bet you did......Ok go back to sleep while he fixes it anyway.

I know most on here won't believe me but I do try to love my fellow man, regardless of creed, race, sex, etc. However, I find myself hating this man. Everything he does and says is so diametrically opposed to what I believe to be good and righteous that my animal instinct of hatred comes out. I used to just think he was clueless and the puppet of shadowy figures, but now I am starting to believe that he is purposely trying to destroy everything I love about this country. This man is evil.

Idiocy and short term memory loss creates your hatred for the president.

President Obama didn't cause the stock market to crash ....Dow in Sept 2008 dropped to 6700....But president Obama has been at the helm when it recovered to twice that much today. Even the economists are having trouble explaining why Wall Street did so well , even with a GOP contigent still in Washington.

President Obama didn't create a meltdown in the housing market where 1 out of 3 homes went into foreclosure. But president Obama has been at the helm as this vital part of our economy recovers. The economists view the housing markets recovery as vital to the nation's recovery.

President Obama didn't have the bright idea of letting the guy that perpetrated 9/11 escape after we had him pinned down in Afghanistan. Instead President Obama ordered his killing...You know the name, Osama Bin Laden....Now fish food.

President Obama didn't have this country running in to Iraq looking for WMD's, when in fact it was his predecessor who wanted vengence for dad that forced that dumb move. We went there on Tax cuts, funded by a Chinese credit card. And guess what, that created deficits and spending as far as the eye can see. Much to the contrary, President Obama got us out of Iraq and is finishing the job in Afghanistan.

The list goes on and on, but your hatred of Obama is clearly misplaced because NONE OF THE PROBLEMS THIS COUNTRY IS FACING....did the current president cause. You would have to be an idiot to think so. So which is it......ARE YOU A RACIST OR AN IDIOT...I leave that to you to decide.

Pappy....have you been able to see the truth since the "nineteen twenty's"??? This has been the worst down turn in this country since the great depression. Guess What ....President Obama wasn't in office when it happened. To blame the president for it would be like criticizing the firemen for putting out the flames on your house.

There is some real idiocy going on to continue to blame President Obama for the problems this nation is facing. Its simply nuts. I see terms like Socialism, communism etc. just floated around. Let's be honest here, there are is a noticiable contingent of the intellectually deficient. These people are the most vocal with the least amount of proven facts. They simply hate President Obama because they stood by and said nothing as "lil Dubya" destroyed this wonderful country. Now those same fools are resentful that President Obama is doing the hard work and taking the criticism of cleaning up the mess.

Which are you ; "Pappy"???? The person who stood silently as Bush destroyed this country...Or the person that wants to blame Obama for every ill this country is experiencing? Either way, you are missing the mark.

        December 28, 2012 at 2:37 pm |
      • jean2009

Well Caramon, if you only want to believe Rush that is your business...but remember Rush also promised he would, then did not move to Costa Rico. Who can believe someone who doesn't keep a promise. The Democrats' numbers have been run through the CBO. I'll put my faith in the CBO over FAUX.

As for following the wishes of voters in ones district..it hasn't worked with mine...he only votes in line with Grover Norquist.

        December 29, 2012 at 11:49 am |
      • Caramon

Is this the same CBO that once said the healthcare act would cost 1 T than later said 2.3 T? As far as promises go, what happened to the person who promised to cut the deficit in half or go through the budget line by line and eliminate waste?

That road still goes in both directions. You still choose who you want to believe. the big difference is Rush did not run for president.

        December 29, 2012 at 8:55 pm |

Actually Jean, I haven't listened to Rush in years. Didn't Barbara also say should would leave if Bush got elected? Did she?

        December 29, 2012 at 9:39 pm |
      • jean2009

Caramon – Here is an interesting article you should read. Downturn and Legacy of Bush Policies Drive Large Current Deficits at The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities website by Julia Ruffing and James Horney.
The facts are simple over half $9 Trillion of our current and projected federal deficit is due to the Bush era tax cuts, and instead of raising the needed revenue to pay for those two unfunded wars, instead borrowing to pay for them.

Barbara who? I din't mention anyone named Barbara.

        December 30, 2012 at 1:52 pm |
      • Caramon

And I never mentioned Rush. Again double standards Jean. I certainly hope this article you mentioned is better than the last when author attributed the 2009 budget entirely to Bush even when a portion was passed AFTER he left office.

      • Bill in STL

Well jean you were dumb enought to believe Nancy Pelosi when she said we have to pass it to find out whats in it... you were dumb enough to buy a pig in a poke!

        December 30, 2012 at 7:39 pm |
      • jean2009

Bill in STL ...First it is helpful to know Ms Pelosi's exact quote....not some dumb misquote that a teapitty idiot would like to wallow in, and pretend she said. Ignorance is bliss to the American ultra-right wing.

The exact quote is this: "We have to pass the bill so YOU can fine out what is in it, away from the fog of controversy." Which s a totally different meaning than your unintelligent spin on it. Until the final draft of every bill must be passed by both houses of congress, and signed by the President before "We" the electorate know exactly what is in any piece of legislation.... even though Ms Pelosi herself had read the full House proposed version of the bill.... as a member of the House she knows what is in that version, and until the Senate had passed the bill and returned it to the House (with their recommendations for the House to approve) until that is done and it is sent back to the Senate for a vote and sent to the president for his signature the exact final legislation can change from what was in the House version of the bill.

This is what Ms Pelosi said in reference to why the far-right misquotes the meaning of what she said.

“We’re in the trenches fighting this out,” she said. And: “We don’t even have a bill written yet. The Senate has not acted. And that really, the president really thought he was going to get a Republican vote in the Senate… You can’t say it’s in the bill, read it, ’cause there is no bill.”

Until any bill is a law signed by the President there may be several draft versions, but the final consolidated bill approved in its final entirety by both houses, and approved with the signature of the President, is then printed by the U.S. Government Printing Office is what WE the electorate can read as the law of the land to KNOW what is in it.

Of course, today most of what the U.S. Government Printing Office does is not to waste tons of paper, but instead to print new legislation in a digital format. Which makes more sense cost wise.

Caramon, if we were in a elementary tug-a-war, numbers would matter. But this is about what is best for this country and the Re-Pub party is bent on this nation's destruction.

If GOP/Tea folks wanted to stand on principle, where were they when "lil Dubya" was burying this country in debt? Even if the Dems controlled congress, the president (lil Dubya) had the power of the veto pin. Right? Right? That's the why it works. But whenever you are making so much money by saying; ...This War Will Pay for Itself or Deficits Don't Matter....you tend to forget what got us into the mess in the first place ...right?

Listen Caramon, I'm sure you are a faithful citizen of this country, but you are missing the boat to think that the GOP/Tea/Re-pub party is going to do anything in getting this country back on track.

      • Caramon

Yet neither of you have been able to answer my very simple question. What makes you believe the Democratic websites are more honest than the republican websites other than your opinion. And, according to what Jean has said in the past, the President does not have veto power over a budget resolution nor does he even have to sign it. Either this is true for both republican and democratic presidents or it is not.

We now return to what I initially said. What I choose to believe is the only truth, as many on this sight believe.

So you would be wise to leave the idea that only welfare recipients elected the president. Its simply not realistic and plausible.

That said, President Obama didn't make the mess...he's only the guy trying to clean it up. My dad was regular army for 30 years. I was obvious to every one of us, all my dad's family, President Obama has done more for this Nation's Veterans than any of his predecessors.

That said, what is the basis for your distaste for President Obama?

Libs will finally get it when milk is 8.00 a gallon and everyone making more than 25K will have their taxes raised (next week). Oh, of course the almost 50% who do not pay a penny in fed taxes will never get it.
McSkiddle, that line about telling us something over and over? I assume you are talking about Obama?
The hate from you libs to anyone who disagrees with you is telling. Most dems I know are OK and I do not hate libs, but I do hate what many libs are trying to do to this country in relation to thinking the government and working class people owe them something.

Obviously you do not understand simple arithmetic.....everyone including those who make a few thousand a year taxes will go up. Those who are retired taxes will go up on their savings. But regardless, I will pay my share when and if we go over the cliff...just to watch the GOP try to put that Genie back in the bottle.

The GOP tax cuts were the original problem which created the fiscal cliff. When George W.Bush lowered taxes to a level that would not sustain the operation of government without borrowing ourselves into oblivion.

The problem is, whether you like it or not, that the Republicans in House and Senate were elected to represent the interests of their constituents, not the President's interests.

      December 28, 2012 at 3:28 pm |
    • Caramon

Since my previous comment is being moderated I will simply say this. Our elected officials represent the voters from their district. They do not represent the President. If they "fall in line" then they are not really doing their job as they were elected to do. Many people, myself included, want to see the balance in expense reduction. I have not yet seen it nor has anyone provided one. If the Republicans simply agree on tax increases, it will not reduce the deficit as it is intended to do.

Jean, on many occasions the President has PROMISED to eliminate earmarks. Has he done this, yes or no?

Caramon As far as I know no president has the line item veto for any spending legislation passed by Congress.

Hey look who signed himslef a new executive order this weekend lifting Federal Pay !?!?! Our leaders now get a raise

    December 29, 2012 at 11:15 am |
    • jean2009

Federal pay raises, congressional pay raises do raise the VP's wage and wage for SCOTUS, but it does not affect the president's pay. The constitution states a president cannot receive a pay raise while he is in office. It can be raised for his successor, but not himself.

""The President shall, at stated times, receive for his services, a compensation, which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that period any other emolument from the United States, or any of them." U.S. Constitution – Presidential Salary Art. II, Clause. 7"

The President's salary, currently $400,000 a year, must remain constant throughout the President's term. The President may not receive other compensation from either the federal or any state government.

Which shows just how little you actually know...maybe try reading the U.S. Constitution -Article II Clause 7
Which states: that a president's salary cannot be increased, or diminished while he is in office.
Providing you can read at that level?

        December 31, 2012 at 2:08 pm |
  11. jerry

Read Bob Woodward's book and you will find out how we got here (the sequester). The GOP proposed the sequester to raise the debt ceiling in 2011 when obama couldn't even work with his own party, in fact they (the negotiators from both parties) threw obama out of the meetings...and he stomped off like a spoiled brat, that he is. This is obama's baby and his failure to lead...in fact everything he has touched is an absolute mess. If not for the marxist press we have the voters would have run him out of this country on a rail. progressives+marxists.

CONTROL OF HIS OWN PARTY? SO WHAT IS BOEHNER'S EXCUSE NOW SINCE HE ABSOLUTELY FAILED LEADING HS OWN PARTY? NOW THAT THE TABLES HAVE TURNED, WHO OWNS THE FISCAL CLIFF NOW?

THIS IS THE KIND OF REASONING THAT MAKES THIS DYSFUNCTION UTTERLY PATHETIC. YOU BLAME THE PRESIDENT FROM BEING UTTERLY HELPLESS BUT APPARENTLY HE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CANNOT HANDLE THE KIDDY POOL THAT CONGRESS HAS BECOME. NOW HE IS IN A POSITION TO JUST SIT BACK AND LET THEM DESTROY EACH OTHER, AND FRANKLY I DON'T BLAME HIM IF HE DID JUST THAT.

BOTH SIDES ARE GUILTY OF NOT DOING THEIR JOBS

Sorry Bill, on this I would have to agree. I believe our Congress shows the same disdain for the other side as we see so often on here. Today, it is more about scoring political points than doing what is best for the country. Throw out the earmarks, eliminate expensive vacations for the departments, no more free bottled water for Congress. This would add up to probably 75 to 100 billion in the next ten years. Both sides are guilty of this. And, consider some way to increase revenue, either by increasing taxes or eliminating loopholes in the tax code. They should all stop talking and start doing.

        Caramon,
Anytime, let's hope it is not needed! Happy Year and I hope 2013 is the year of the DC grownup! The truth is taxes will go up and spending HAS to come down! Other than that, anything else is a pipe dream and more for the politician than for the people!

My taxes are going to go up, we can't get a budget passed, we are facing a fiscal nightmare and the Feds get raises? Nice! Terrible signal to send out right now!

no, NAM Vet....hahaha Can't stand Palin. I'm a USMC 1968-69 vet, so I got to suffer the consequences of another great leftist president, LBJ. Read some Ayn Rand and you will understand why these collectivists win in the end. Those who survive through taking from those who create are playing survival ball...while the others have more lofty motivations and ideals..human nature. Rand was a jew born in Russia and lived through the bolshevik take over of Russia, so she speaks from experience and a very keen mind to boot, she was never the less a flawed human, a complicated person and conflicted to some degree...but worth study. What is happening in America and europe mirrors what she spoke of...erie.

Ilook at most countries as a cycle in a way... Socialis m to Capitalism to Socialism again and it repeats (add communism for some or autocracies)- it has gone that way in most countries except the USA for now and a place like North Korea
