Tuesday Jan 8, 2012 at the White House On Tuesday the president has no public events. The only thing on the president’s public schedule is a private meeting with outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. On Monday President Obama nominated former Senator Chuck Hagel to be the next Defense secretary and John Brennan to be the next CIA director. Important cabinet positions still to be announced, Treasury secretary, Commerce secretary and a possible new Chief of Staff (as the current CoS Jack Lew is the leading candidate to replace Timothy Geithner). Announcements are possible by the end of the week, but exact timing hasn’t been nailed down yet.
