January 30 Day Ahead: Obama says goodbye to Clinton

One day after he flew to the Las Vegas area to push immigration reform, President Obama is expected to keep a relatively low profile Wednesday.  While the president will not be making a public appearance, he is scheduled to sit down for interviews with Telemundo and Univision as he continues his immigration push.  Also of note, Obama and Hillary Clinton are set to hold a private lunch as the outgoing Secretary of State gets set to formally resign her post.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney will brief reporters at 12:30 PM ET.

CHICAGO (CBS) – The murder toll in Chicago for the month of January now stands at 42, making it the most deadly January in Chicago in more than 10 years gun laws in action, idiots

How about blaming the knuckleheads who are pulling the trigger! Chicago ALREADY has strict gun laws! Blame the trigger men/women! They are the folks with NO regard for life. If not a gun, it may as well have been a knife!

Aren't you the least bit curious as to where they are getting their guns despite the strict gun laws? If they had to resort to knives then these gangs street cred would seriously drop, not to mention the fatality rates.

December, I am curious to know where the guns came from. I would also like to know the type of gun. Even still 100% of the blame goes to those who pull the triggers.

I think just as guilty are those who are profiting from these murders through sale of illegal guns. Once caught they should share the sentence for every murder committed with the guns they sold.

DEcember...where do they get their drugs? You moron you dont think these guys will buy guns underground if they are out lawed? Since when does banning anything work? This is a social problem that has a lot to do with a decaying populace, poor media, and etc..

        December,
Excellent point about the sellers of those guns. I stand corrected!

jerry, you seem to be missing the point of guns coming from somewhere, illegal or not. They have to be coming from somewhere or are you suggesting they just grow on trees and plants like some drugs do? Do you want to stop the flow of illegal guns or not? Make up your mind!

A social problem and quality of life issues do happen in the inner cities, they have enough problems already so they do not need gun violence to exacerbate their misery. As steveo said, the criminals are the problem and I say the other criminals who are arming them are just as guilty.

You missed a little fact that a month after the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, the U.S. has had 1,400 gun-related deaths overall.

When you cut spending to the State department and have 1.43 million cables (emails) a year that might explain why this would happen. If I'm not mistaken the United States was in a Code Orange a week before 9/11 happened. Should that have not been a cause for concern for the Bush administration? What about the 9 embassies that were attacked and over 26 lives were lost during the Bush administration. Factoring in everything it's a miracle that Secretary Clinton kept this country safe for the 4 years. I applaud her.
