It's Monday and the president is going to MinneapolisThe President visits the Twin Cities to continue delivering his message against gun violence. He makes remarks in a Minneapolis Police special operations center after participating in a roundtable conversation. According to the White House "he will discuss with local leaders and law enforcement officials his comprehensive set of commonsense ideas to reduce gun violence. Minneapolis is a city has taken important steps to reduce gun violence and foster a conversation in the community about what further action is needed. President Obama will visit with members of the community about their experiences and discuss additional steps that can be taken at the federal level to reduce gun violence." The only gun problem we have is in the inner cities with gangbangers and thugs. But that doesn't make good political headlines, banning the scary sounding guns from law abiding citizens does......
OK, I don't quite understand this...The President is making an 8hr round trip, with an actual ground time of what, 2 1/2 hours, to hold a conference and make a few remarks? How much money has been spent for this operation including Secret Service advance teams, area clearance, coordination with local authorities, fuel costs, air transport not only of Air Force One but supporting military aircraft as well, etc.
Why couldn't this just be done by teleconference with a brief televised announcement afterwards?
The Campaigner-in-chief takes another trip. Apart from wasting a lot of money and getting prime coverage on the local news, do these trips (like the recent one to Vegas) really help anything? I get the impression he does so many of them because he is bored in the oval office and needs a weekly adulation fix. And before someone comments on the number of trips Bush took, let me say that I thought those were a waste of money, too.

Hello – CNN – whoever is monitoring the comments is either asleep or a big Obama supporter who doesn't post all of the negative comments about their hero.
CNN HAS BEEN PAID BIG BUCKS TO SUPPORT THE OBAMAINATION FROM STIMULAS FUNDS. IT TAKES ALL OF OUR BUCKS TO PAYOFF CNN TO SUPPORT OB'S GOALS. CNN IS ON THE TAKE BIG TIME IT SEEMS.

Cynthia, if it were Sarah palin she would have gone into how about 70% of Americans have received some sort of "benefits" from the government. This number breaks down to about 60% of Dems and 52% of repubs. I am factoring in "all benefits". Overall, dems are more likely to receive poverty or unemployment assistance while both repubs and dems are equally likely to have used SS and Medicare.
Any way you look at it, our country cannot survive on the track our current politicians have us on. Both parties are failing us. And, yes, someone like Sarah Palin is more likely to tell you what I just told you. Unlike someone like Obama who thinks this country does not have a spening problem.
It was about creating jobs while Obama was running for office. Now it sees to be about growing the government (or not). And no, government jobs are not the same as private sector jobs.
